CL:AIRE has been given permission by London 2012 to tell the remarkable story of how a vast, contaminated, brownfield “megasite” in East London was prepared, cleaned and made fit for purpose – for the building of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games infrastructure.
CL:AIRE is delighted to announce their successful bid for the Defra Research Contract: “A risk/benefit approach to the application of iron nanoparticles for the remediation of contaminated sites in the environment”. CL:AIRE is supported in this research project by r3 Environmental Technology Ltd (UK), Land Quality Management Group (UK), Deltares (Netherlands) and Geosyntec (USA). The project team will be delivering a final report to Defra in early 2011 which will be independent, non-aligned, cross sectoral and will be made publicly available.
US and EU Perspectives on Green and Sustainable Remediation
This interactive internet seminar was hosted as a primer to the Special Session 8A “Sustainable Remediation: International Developments” being presented during ConSoil 2010.
The seminar was open to the public and over 170 people from 16 nations participated. International leaders of sustainable and green remediation initiatives discussed their organisations’ drivers, goals and constraints, as well as the impacts of drivers and constraints on their efforts.
The panel of speakers included representatives from the USEPA; EC; SURF US, SuRF-UK, and SURF NL; EURODEMO+; NICOLE; and the Common Forum. An open forum was held after the presentations in which participants were able to submit questions to the speakers.
