CL:AIRE is always very interested to hear from anyone who owns or is otherwise involved with contaminated land, and who may be willing to allow a research project or technology demonstration to be carried out on their site. There is no limit on the size of the site and we would prefer that the site be characterised and that the type and level of contamination of the soil and groundwater be known. Project duration on a site will vary; some research projects will require sites for up to 3 years to allow for long term monitoring, however, technology vendors may only require a site for a few weeks or months to carry out a demonstration.
We recognise that some sites may be sensitive to publicity and therefore, site locations and site owners can be kept confidential. CL:AIRE is interested only in understanding the type of ground conditions and the nature and extent of contamination. CL:AIRE would be willing to enter into mutually acceptable confidentiality agreements with potential site owners if required.
A number of sites that have been put forward to CL:AIRE are brownfield sites that include plans to carry out full-scale remediation as part of re-development. In order for you to fully benefit from the CL:AIRE process, we should be involved at the early stages of these developments, i.e. when pilot trials are being carried out prior to full-scale remediation.
If you have a site that you are interested in putting forward to CL:AIRE or would like further information, please contact one of CL:AIRE’s project team – Nicola Harries, Rob Sweeney and John Henstock.
