In the Queen’s speech on 10 May, the UK Government announced a Levelling Up and Regeneration Bill to drive local growth, empowering local leaders to regenerate their areas, and ensuring everyone can share in the United Kingdom’s success. The Bill put the 12 missions outlined in the Levelling Up White Paper on a legislative footing which will be reported on annually. This Bill now includes previously announced reforms to the planning system to give residents more involvement in local development. Further information is available here.
