System Requirements: Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8, 10. Microsoft Office versions: 2007, 2010, 2013, 2016.

Please choose the appropriate version:

  • Version 2.12 – is for existing users of R version 3.4.4 or lower.  
  • Version 2.13 – is a minor update to V2.12 to ensure compatibility with R version 3.5.0 or above. 
  • Version 3.00 – is a completely new web-based version.
  • Both V2.13 and V3.00 need R version 3.5.0 or above to work.
  • The GWSDAT V3.00 zip file contains the files necessary for both V2.13 and V3.00. 

Installation

For first-time installations:

  1. Download and install the latest version of the open source statistical application "R" available from: http://cran.r-project.org/bin/windows/base/ . Please accept all default settings during installation. (Users must have administrator access rights to install R).
    (N.B. We are currently updating GWSDAT to work with version of R>4.0.0. In the meantime please install version 3.6.3 available here: https://cran.r-project.org/bin/windows/base/old/3.6.3/)
  2. Download the appropriate version of GWSDAT and unzip to somewhere on your C: Drive, e.g. C:\Apps.
  3. To avoid any Excel add-in security issues please ensure that you unzip to a trusted location in Excel – see https://www.excelcampus.com/vba/add-in-ribbon-disappears/ for more details.
  4. Open up Excel and install the GWSDAT add-in by choosing: "Office button"-> "Excel Options"->"Add-Ins"->"Go"->"Browse" and then select "GWSDAT V2.13.xlam" located in the "C:\Apps\GWSDAT_v3.00 " folder. (If prompted to copy the GWSDAT add-in to another location please select 'No')
  5. To install the new browser based version, repeat the above step and select "GWSDAT V3.00.xlam".

For existing installations where the R version installed is 3.4.4 or less:

  1. Ignore step 1 above
  2. Download the appropriate version of GWSDAT and unzip to somewhere on your C: Drive, e.g. C:\Apps.
  3. To avoid any Excel add-in security issues please ensure that you unzip to a trusted location in Excel – see https://www.excelcampus.com/vba/add-in-ribbon-disappears/ for more details.
  4. Open up Excel and install the GWSDAT add-in by choosing: "Office button"-> "Excel Options"->"Add-Ins"->"Go"->"Browse" and then select "GWSDAT V2.12.xla" located in the "C:\Apps\GWSDAT_v2.12" folder. (If prompted to copy the GWSDAT add-in to another location please select 'No')

Getting started

  • A menu called "GWSDAT v3.00" will appear "Add-Ins" tab of Excel.
  • To get started with a basic example select "GWSDAT v3.00->Insert Data File->Basic Example" and then "GWSDAT v3.00->GWSDAT Analysis".
  • To get started with a more complex example select "GWSDAT v3.00->Insert Data File->Comprehensive Example" and then "GWSDAT v3.00->GWSDAT Analysis".
  • You can view the user manual by selecting "GWSDAT v3.00->User Manual".
  • If you are using V2.13 or V2.12, the instructions are the same as above with the appropriate version number.
