CL:AIRE works with its Principal Members to raise their awareness of and pursue shared objectives in land, water and environmental management.

CL:AIRE develops major initiatives which directly benefit the industry (e.g. The Definition of Waste: Development Industry Code of Practice, Asbestos in Soil and Construction & Demolition Materials Code of Practice, SuRF-UK - Sustainable Remediation Framework and perform the Land Forum Secretariat).

CL:AIRE supports its Principal Members by providing information and guidance relating to the sustainable reuse of land. CL:AIRE develop best practice guides and provide training and assessment programmes. This helps companies raise their performance, minimise risks and gain greater recognition.

Balfour Beatty Vinci is a long-established joint venture between two global leaders in the delivery of critical infrastructure. Balfour Beatty and Vinci started working together over 30 years ago when both were members of the TransManche Link consortium which delivered the Channel Tunnel. Balfour Beatty Vinci is responsible for designing and building part of the most exciting and challenging railway project in Europe: HS2. DEC is the environmental contracting company of DEME Group, one of Europe's largest civil engineering groups. DEC has over 25 years' experience of remediating complex environmental problems and is a specialist in soil, groundwater and sediment treatment, soil remediation, recycling techniques, capping and remediation of landfills and the redevelopment of brownfields. Dounreay Site Restoration Limited (DSRL) is decommissioning Britain's former centre of fast reactor research and development. Owned by a consortium of Cavendish Nuclear, CH2M and AECOM, DSRL is funded by the NDA. The site is being returned to as near as practicable its original condition by; decommissioning and demolishing nuclear and non-nuclear facilities; segregating and packaging radioactive and non-radioactive wastes for storage or disposal; characterisation and remediation to ensure the site is safe for future generations. The experimental nature of many of its facilities means decommissioning requires innovation and great care, with Dounreay recognised as one of Europe's most complex nuclear site closure projects.
EKFB is a joint venture that brings together international, market leading expertise from four leading civil engineering and construction companies: Eiffage, Kier, Ferrovial Construction and BAM Nuttall. All four partners bring specialist expertise in the design, construction, operation, financing and maintenance of railway networks, including the construction of one of Europe’s latest high speed rail projects. EKFB has been appointed by HS2 to deliver civil engineering works across an 80km section of the new high speed rail link.

National Grid has been a strong presence in the development of many leading industry initiatives over the last 20 years and is proud to have played a key role in establishing CL:AIRE as well as being an ever-present supporter of CL:AIRE since. The company owns hundreds of former gasworks sites and employs a respected professional team with a long-standing track record of delivering annual programmes of site assessment, remediation and gasholder demolition, as part of our strategy to bring surplus sites back to beneficial use including providing land for new housing. The Company also manages land contamination issues on operational land across the UK including on operational electricity transmission sub-stations.
